Nokia 6120 Evaluation

The 6120 offers quite a whole lot of goodies, like a microSD slot , 35 MB of free storage, 64MBs of RAM, 369 MHz ARM11 CPU, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP/AVRCP support, a 2.5mm audio jack, miniUSB, 2 MP camera with flash, QVGA video-call camera, a Li-Ion 890 mAh battery and an FM stereo radio. It uses a bright and beautiful 2’’ QVGA screen. The entire pack has a batter, charger, user manual, USB data cable, CD-ROM and a stereo headset. Though there was no microSD card included. Right in a class of its own the Nokia 6120 is a qual band GSM and dual- band 3G phone. The 6120 model supports the 850 (mostly suitable for use with AT&T in USA) and 2100 MHz 3G bands, while the 6121 model supports 1900 and 2100 MHz.

Trying to set a record of being the smallest symbian phone ever weighing 89 gr and is very easy o fit into little spaces, it surely will appeal to people who like a small phone but with added features. The two soft buttons require that the whole thumb presses unlike finger pressings which might pose some adjusting for people with large fingers. On its side only the volume and camera buttons are placed there.

When tested performance was excellent. It processed at a fast rate, reception and voice quality were excellent. Its speed even beat the much acclaimed N95, with a unique battery life of 11 days o standby and 5 hours of talk time. Is camera can take pictures in QVGA format, plus QCIF 3GP video. Its ‘video editor’ is breathe taking, it allows you to place different videos and images I n sequence to be able to ‘direct’ a larger video right on your phone in 3GP format.

With little S60 applications such as Calendar, Calculator, PTT for Europe, J2ME 2.0 (Opera Mini runs crazy fast), GPS apps, Quick office viewer, Adobe PDF, Converter, Music player, Real and Flash player, IM, MSN support and more, some internet connecting applications are also present in it.

One feature I think should have been added was dial up because it had SIP/VoIP configuration and server-registering support settings. For $290 I think it’s just great.
