Trimble Releases New GIS Devices
Trimble has introduced a uniquely designed computing devices with integrated GPS, the GeoExplorer 2008 series, featuring varying levels of accuracy per model.Three different models were made available and they are embedded with different features. The third of the three models available, the GeoXH, features real-time decimeter-level positioning.
The features of the enire GeoExplorer includes a high-resolution 3.5-inc VGA (480 pixel x 640 pixel) display. the devices use Microsoft's Windows Mobile version 6 operating system. The GeoExplorer units also feature Bluetooth connectivity, which enables users to connect a cell phone for access to the Internet to receive real-time corrections from VRS networks, as well as download background map data, according to Trimble. Users can also connect to Bluetooth-enabled laser rangefinders, barcode scanners, and digital cameras.
Developed to use with a number of popular handheld devices including pen-based or laptop computers, Pocket PCs, and Palm devices, the GeoXM provides 1 meter to 3 meter accuracy, integrating real-time corrected GPS technology. The GeoXT features a sub-meter receiver and Trimble's Everest multipath rejection technology. This model is designed for working in difficult environments, such as under canopies, in urban canyons, or anywhere high-accuracy data collection and maintenance is required, according to Trimble.
