GIS Conference Comes Up in November
Conference organizers realize that applying GIS technology in ways that benefit the community will take the combined efforts of the public and private sectors. This year's theme, "Regional and Local Integration of GIS Technology through Business and Intergovernmental Collaboration," recognizes the importance of this partnership.
GIS technology is most widely applied in emergency planning and response, and is also widely used for insurance, real estate and mapping purposes. It is expected to attract presenters and participants from throughout the United States and Caribbean. Professional development workshops will also be offered.
The conference is sponsored by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor and the Virgin Islands Geospatial Information Council (VIGIC), in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
