GLONASS Satellites Successfully Launched into Orbit

Sometimes ago, I reported on the preparation by the Russian government to ensure that GLONASS becomes a recurrent success and how the government has devoted huge financial commitment in ensuring the sustenance of the project.

The good news is that Russian has successfully launched its latest Proton rocket carrying three GLONASS satellites from Baikonur, Kazakhstan, and all three satellites are operating nominally under ground control.

According to Roscomos, the Russian Federal Space Agency the Proton lifted off without any major issues and that the upper stage of the rocket and the three satellites successfully separated at 8:21 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time and which in Moscow Time is 4:21 p.m. By 10 a.m. EDT (6 p.m. Moscow time) all three satellites were in orbit and operating under ground control and accordingly as program.

With the successful launch of these three satellites, Roscomos has revealed the plan to launch another three GLONASS satellites this year on December 25. The coverage of the launch including the video of the launch is available at Channel One Russia.
