Nav Gains More Popularity among Mobile Users
According to a survey carried out by Strategy Analytics Wireless Media
Lab service, a market research firm, nearly half of all respondents
would be willing to pay for mobile navigation service on a mobile
device. The survey covered the United States and Western Europe where
there are high volume of mobile users.
In its report titled 'Consumers are Willing to Pay for Their Mobile
Devices to Show Them the Way', the research firm said that based on a
survey of more than 2,800 wireless device owners on both sides of the
Atlantic, it illustrates that mobile navigation is the primary service
for which consumers would be willing to pay a relatively high fee per
month compared to other mobile services, according to the firm. The
survey also showed that mobile consumers are also willing to pay
extra, however, for multimedia messaging, mobile browsing, and e-mail
as well.
Speaking on the result of the survey, Chris Schreiner, senior user
experience analyst at Strategy Analytics, said the result is not just
tech-savvy youngsters that are willing to cough up the money but it
reveals the desire for mobile navigation services is prevalent across
all age ranges in both regions.
The survey reveals that in the United States, willingness to pay does
decrease with age after 35, while in Western Europe, consumers are
also less likely to want to pay for services after 35 years of age,
but the amount that they are willing to pay per month remains stable
across all age groups, he concluded.
