Police Cautions GPS Users to be more Vigilant
The police department has issued a statement advising GPS users to be more careful about the way they carry these devices. This becomes necessary due to the fact that many drivers are using GPS as a result of its many benefits and the conveniences it offers them thereby making it an easy target for evil doers.
They advice motorists not to be careless about the way they keep their devices especially when not in use. According to the officials, these devices become more popular and are also becoming a popular target for thieves. They suggest keeping the GPS out of sight and taking it with you once you leave your vehicle. Police also say it's a good idea to wipe away any signs of a GPS, like the rings on the windshield the suction cup may leave.
In order to help reduce theft rate, manufacturers have also incorporated some security measures that will render the device useless when stolen. Some of these devices available in the market now come with anti-theft feature that disables the device until a Personal Identification Number is entered or the device is taken to a pre-programmed secure location. This ensures that only the owner or any authorize person can have access to the gadget.
