A Portable Navigator, The Garmin nuvi 785T


Always on the edge of technology especially when it has to do with navigation, Garmin is a name to reckon with, the company has manufactured many series of GPS devices that serve various purposes for different class of users. The present one is the portable Garmin Nuvi 785T that comes with greater features that will be examine shortly.

The first feature that will strike you is its 4.3" touchscreen control display with 480 x 272 pixels which offers a widescreen view of its preloaded maps of the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. With this, users can locate a destination by simple address input, or by using the database of 6 million points of interest to locate nearby travel stops and services. It is designed in such a way that they can even upload their  favorite waypoints and find your way back to them in the future with detailed maps and clear, turn-by-turn voice prompts — it even announces street names! The 3-D building graphic embedded makes it possible for users to locate the right place at a glance and compare elevation of their current location with that of their destination. It weighs 6.5 ounces and has a dimension of 16"x 3"x 16".

With the MSN Direct receiver that comes with free 90-day subscription to MSN Direct service included (additional subscription required after trial period), users are given first hand updates as regards traffic on the routes they are plying and also on weather reports, plus local gas prices, movie times, event listings, and much more. You need not to worry about loosing your location when you turn it off this is because the nüvi 785T remembers where it was and will help you to locate your way back and by simply pushing the Garmin's "Where Am I?" you can locate instantly your current location.

The MP3/audiobook player, JPEG picture viewer, and headphone jack allow you to check out digital music and photos from your SecureDigital™ memory cards on the built-in digital media player. The integrated wireless FM transmitter lets you hear music, voice prompts, and phone conversations through your car's stereo. Explore the language guide, world clock, calculator, currency/unit converters, and other Garmin travel aids. A user-defined password keeps unauthorized users from using your navigator, so your personal information and itinerary stay private.

Other features are the Bluetooth technology for making and receiving hands-free calls with your compatible cell phone,  the SD card slot for expandable memory and it comes with a I year warranty; however no details on the pricing yet.
