ITT Releases its Universal GPS Contact
ITT Interconnect Solutions has released the universal GPS contact, a 1.8mm dry circuit pressure contact that when mated and deflected, maintains true contact beam positioning with no conductivity to the side walls. The contact also achieves a mating force of 0.3N with only 0.1mm beam movement.
With this cost-effective contact users will be able to have complete freedom over board positioning and features a domed contact mating point and side wings. The universal GPS contact's X-Y-Z movement provides a robust antenna connection. The single piece stamped and formed BeCu contact has a deflection of 0.9mm and a free height of 1.8mm.
Speaking on the occassion, Keith Teichmann, director of marketing for ITT Interconnect said "The proliferation of GPS features within handheld devices has brought many technical challenges, including the need to transmit and receive high-frequency signals of above 1.8 GHz between antenna and circuit board, without distortion of signal wave or length. The Universal GPS Contact was designed so that it maintains signal length and wave integrity, transmitting and receiving distortion-free signals."
The universal GPS contact is well-suited for GPS units, PDAs, mobile phones, PC card devices and wireless gaming applications.
