Experience the Garmin Talking StreetPilot III GPS Deluxe
With the claim that the Garmin Talking StreetPilot III GPS Deluxe is the ultimate traveling companion and guide, let us hope that the ends actually justify the means. One of the probable reasons Garmin believe it is the ultimate traveling companion could lie in the fact that the device gives you a complete sense of direction with its embedded features.
There is a talking guidance that allows you to create a route and then put your mind on cruise as you follow clear, accurate, voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions to safely reach your destination. The Guidance tab is nice and easy. It gives you the option to change how Off-Route Recalculation works, this can be set to Prompted, Automatic and Off. The Next Turn Pop-up can be toggled between Off, SPEAK Key Only, Automatic Only and Both.
It comes with intuitive menus that makes routing short and equally fast. The StreetPilot III comes with MapSource City Navigator and once the maps are loaded you're ready to go, select your destination and it will take you there. In your car the SP3 sits either on a bulky bean bag mount, or a sticky mount you can stick to your dashboard. When it's being used it either takes 8 (I think) AA batteries, or you can plug it into your cigarette lighter with the supplied adaptor. You'll only be able to hear the voice prompts if you have the cigarette lighter adaptor plugged in though, because it has the speaker on it. The display is a fair size, and is big enough to get the point across, although it isn't touch screen like almost all of the newer units are, large buttons are used to control the unit and plan your routes. You can still save routes and waypoints and a full points of interest database is included, so you can find the nearest shopping centres etc.
